With "shocking" contracts ... two deputies point to a "catastrophic" file, losing $ 7 billion annually
With "shocking" contracts ... two deputies point to a "catastrophic" file, losing $ 7 billion annually
A member of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee, Representative Riad Al-Tamimi, described, Tuesday (3-11-2020), the file of the investment electricity companies in Iraq as `` catastrophic and a ticking time bomb. ''
Al-Tamimi told (Baghdad Today), speaking about the volume of wrong spending from the state budget every year as a result of old decades, including the electricity companies contract, The investment electricity companies file is one of the largest corruption files that the government must investigate and stop, as it constitutes a time bomb. The Iraqi people pay for it.
"The government pays 7 billion annually to electricity investment companies," he said, expecting that "the amount that the government pays for electric power companies by 2023 will reach 20 billion dinars from the state budget."
He called on the government to "stand up against this disaster," he said. Before that, the representative of the Finance Committee, Faisal Al-Issawi, talked about the company that produces electrical energy for the Basmajah complex, saying that "the contract signed with the company that produces electric energy for the Basmajah complex allows it to take huge sums equivalent to 4 times what other companies take."
And that "the contract includes a clause that allows the company to take the amounts of the volume of energy production agreed upon in full, even if its stations do not generate electric power."
He stressed that "the contracts concluded by previous governments with electricity companies, including Basmajah station, force the state to disburse money, give fuel, protect production units, and pay all dues according to terms that have been decided on the interests of investment companies.
