The Iraqi Minister of Transport, Captain Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli, discussed during his presidency of the meeting of the Transport Committee , Border Crossings and Ports , and within the work of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council, the work mechanism for opening the border crossing point between the two countries, in front of the movement of vehicles and cars .

The Iraqi minister confirmed his follow-up with the Border Ports Authority, to implement the automation of customs procedures, in order to standardize customs tariffs, in all Iraqi ports, referring to coordination with the General Secretariat of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, on the Iraqi-Saudi customs cooperation memorandum, in preparation for its entry into force.

For his part, the Saudi side expressed the Kingdom's readiness to discuss the electronic linking process for new and Arar ports between the two countries, upon completion of the automation of customs procedures at the Arar port from the Iraqi side, to become ready for the linking process with the automated system of Saudi customs.

It was also agreed to form a technical team from both parties, to activate the maritime transport between the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr , the Saudi ports for passengers and goods, and all exports and imports.
