Economy News _ Baghdad

Minister of Agriculture Mohammed Karim Al-Khafaji announced on Saturday that Iraq will start exporting about one million tons of barley during the coming period.

Al-Khafaji said in a press statement that "Iraq was able to achieve food security for the first time in its history, after achieving the satisfaction of the wheat and barley crops."

He added that "Iraq will start exporting about one million tons of barley crop during the coming period," pointing to "the imminence of a meeting with the Minister of Finance regarding accelerating the disbursement of farmers' dues."
