The official Vatican News newspaper reported that His Holiness, Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Mitja Lescovar as the papal ambassador to Iraq and installed him as Archbishop .

The newspaper reported in a translation translated by the "Information Agency" that, "His Holiness, Pope Appointed Bishop Lescovar, who is currently working as a consultant to the Vatican Embassy in India, succeeding Archbishop Alberto Ortega Martin who was appointed ambassador to the Vatican in Chile."

It is mentioned that Ambassador Leskovar was born in 1970 in Slovenia and was ordained as a priest in 1995. He entered the diplomatic corps of the Vatican on July 1, 2001, and worked in the papal representation in Bangladesh, in the public affairs section of the State Secretariat, and in the papal representations in Germany and India.
