Iraq stops flights to India and issues an explanation on the Erbil-Sulaymaniyah airports

Iraqi Airways announced the suspension of its flights to India, and while it excluded the Iraqis who want to return to their countries, it stressed the temporary suspension of domestic flights to and from the airports of Sulaymaniyah and Erbil starting next Saturday.

The company said in a statement, that it had suspended its direct flights from Iraq to India for a month from the date of 3/3/2020 at the request of the Indian authorities due to the repercussions of the Coronavirus, and excluded from this procedure are the return flights to evacuate the Iraqis present on the Indian soil in the mentioned period.

The statement added, "The company also informs the travelers about the suspension of its direct flights between Iraq and Lebanon and the exclusivity of flights to return exclusively until Monday, March 15th, as the last date for the return of the Iraqis present on Lebanese soil."

As for the special flights between Iraq and Jordan, Iraqi Airways confirm stopping direct flights from Basra and Sulaymaniyah stations to Amman station, while maintaining direct flights to the sectors of Baghdad and Erbil continuously to Amman station.

Regarding domestic flights, the company added that it stops them temporarily to and from the airports of Sulaimaniya and Erbil, starting on 3/14/2020, while the external flights from the mentioned stations to the various sectors will continue regularly and according to the scheduled times.

The statement also added, and the company confirms its full commitment to all the decisions of the Diwaniya Committee No. (55) for the year (2020) and the procedures for fogging and sterilization of all aircraft of the national carrier in accordance with the global health regulations, as well as the commitment of all company employees to safety measures in order to preserve the safety of travelers.
