The Finance Committee: the budget deficit exceeds 48 trillion, and Allawi will review it

The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed, on Monday, the fiscal deficit in the country's general budget for the current year that exceeded 48 trillion dinars, noting that the government of Prime Minister-designate Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi will review it.

"The prime minister-designate has a long history of fiscal and monetary policy in the country, so the budget with a large fiscal deficit in excess of 48 trillion dinars can be reconsidered," member of the committee, MP Ahmad Hama, told the official agency affiliated with Alsumaria News.

He added, "The new government will tackle the fiscal deficit by reviewing some paragraphs," noting that "Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi cannot approve the budget and send it to Parliament, except after voting on his cabinet and his government's program."

He continued, "After the parliament votes by an absolute majority on the members of the new government and the ministerial curriculum, the Allawi government can discuss the budget and send it to the House of Representatives," noting that "Allawi has many observations on many financial and economic matters in the state, and all problems can be addressed in a short period or In stages.

Yesterday, Saturday, President of the Republic Barham Salih commissioned Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi to form a government.
