Parliamentary Finance: Budget deficit of 2020 up to 70 trillion

BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
A member of parliament's Finance Committee, Abdel Hadi Mohan, said Wednesday that there is a deficit of about 70 trillion in the next year's budget, according to the census conducted by the Ministry of Finance and his committee was informed of this.
Mohan said in a statement that the Ministry of Finance told his committee that the budget next year will witness a large deficit and this deficit represents a very imaginary figure, pointing to the current government spending will increase the federal deficit to balance 2020, revealing at the same time of spending for many sections of the budget without reference to Law.
Mohan added that the deficit in the budget because of spending leads to the transfer of funds from the investment budget to operational, which adversely affects the projects that the government should be implemented to serve the citizens.
