Former interior minister Qassim al-Araji confirmed Friday that the "crisis of confidence" is the cause of the problems in Iraq, adding: "We need real remedies by the decisions of statesmen who have the courage to take responsibility."

This came during the participation of Araji in a symposium entitled: "Iraq and the difficult security situation" within the activities of the Forum on Security and Sovereignty in the Middle East.
Araji said: "We have good relations with the Kurdistan region since the days of the opposition, and during my tenure as Minister of Interior we had close relations with the region and we have received hundreds of terrorists from the region."
He added: "The Constitution refers to the entity of the Kurdistan region in his name, how can create provocation by replacing the term" provinces of the region "?!
He added that it is not possible to push for a referendum and then the accusation that "you are separatists"
He went on to say that "security cooperation has come to fruition, including the operations of the intelligence hawks in Syria," noting: "We must have the ability to make important decisions after the defeat is urging."
