The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that the Forum comes within the framework of seeking to activate the decisions made by the Arab Development Summits (the previous three ).

This came during the opening session of the Forum of Civil Society and Arab Youth, which will be held on the sidelines of the Fourth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit .

"The march of development in a significant number of Arab countries has made significant progress over the past decades in the face of many development challenges in vital areas such as education, health and poverty eradication, " Aboul Gheit said in a speech received by Sputnik on Wednesday .

He continued: 'However, there are still many central challenges, which affect the livelihood of citizens at the level of security, economic and social, and sometimes touches the security and peace and stability of countries, all challenges associated with the system of upgrading the same Arab man '.

"We need to shift from the focus of investment in economic growth strategies and infrastructure, in this type of investment, to investing in people, who are the instrument of development, purpose, real capital and ultimate goal at the same time ."

He pointed out that the launch of the investment initiative in the framework of a conviction built by the conditions and challenges experienced by our region, and strengthened practical experience around the world, is based on the fact that this type of investment is the most successful ways to achieve the desired economic and social growth .

"The most effective and sustainable means of investment is human investment, education, health, training and education," he said. "The cumulative effect of this type of investment is what is happening in the big boom in the lives of societies ."
