Iran and the Kurdistan Region signed an economic memorandum of understanding Thursday in the second day of the Economic Opportunities Forum in Erbil.

Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari, who attended the signing ceremony, stressed that the memorandum provides suitable opportunities for both sides to develop bilateral cooperation.

The minister added that there is a decision to form a joint committee to follow up the agreements and the follow-up to these agreements will be the Iraqi government and the Embassy of Iran in Baghdad and the Embassy of Iraq in Tehran.

The Iranian minister said that his meeting (yesterday) with the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani was "constructive and feasible," expected to see economic relations bright future between the two sides.

The Conference on Developing Economic Relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iran started its work in the city of Arbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, on Wednesday morning, and continues until Thursday, and will discuss the prospects of development of economic relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iran, and promote trade exchange and tourism between the two sides, through a series of meetings and seminars And lectures.
