"How to Hit the Ground Running" by Pat - 4/12/18
Do you have a written summary of your project ideas ready for the exchange?
I revised mine today, breaking it into two parts: Immediate short-term projects, and long-term projects.
I did this more for myself, because I needed things to be happening, even though it will take me about 8- months to get my large organization up and running. I’m creating a global headquarters in Portland, with 5 regional offices located throughout the U.S.
My idea will serve anyone with the same issue, wanting to hit the ground running, while spending most of your first 6-8 months creating your organization, purchasing/leasing offices and hiring staff.
I will handle two short-term projects simultaneously, that should get funds working rapidly in a broad spectrum of industries. I will approach the major chain grocery stores in my state, and have their brand of food card, loaded with $400 credit and it’s for food purchases only ( no beverages). These will be distributed to all local food banks and other helping hand organizations. They will be freely dispersed. As an example, a family of four would receive 2 cards, totaling $800. Will some people get them that really don’t need them, or will some lie and get more than due them? Sure. However, it’s food and I’m not worried someone will get too much food. A stipulation will be that no beverages can be purchased on these cards, nor can they be refunded for cash. If they want beverages or diapers, they would have to use their own money. This keeps people from being hungry and benefits the local economy through using local grocery stores.
My second short term project, will be contacting the state nonprofit Association. Every state has a membership of all the LOCAL nonprofits. Google “Nonprofit Association of (state).” I’ll join the association and ask the board to have all member organizations provide an ideal 12-month budget for working their nonprofit to its fullest. These small local organizations in each state are the backbone of the local communities. Oregon has about 1200 members and I figure $1 billion should cover them for a year. No national organizations will be funded, because they are the ones more likely to be corrupted. This is especially important, because my compliance division won’t be up and running until the rest of my company, so providing for the local organizations is the safest starting up. It may be that my wealth manager has access to compliance officers to vet organizations, but if not, the small local community nonprofits are usually a safe haven.
Having these two programs operating, while I spend the majority of my time getting my company running, affords me the peace of mind that I’m accomplishing something, while still focusing elsewhere. My company will concentrate on the long-term projects once it is running, ...like medbed manufacturing, urban agricultural, large scale hydroponics, homeless resolutions etc.
Hope this idea helps others that have pondered about the same issue.
Namaste,
Pat
