Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security.

A statement by the office of Abadi said that "the latter presided over a meeting of the National Security Council on Sunday" and during the meeting to provide a briefing on the preparations of the security committee responsible for securing the process of the upcoming parliamentary elections and discuss these preparations, and approved a number of requirements of the Commission to secure parliamentary elections security "He said.

The statement added that "during the meeting also took measures to facilitate the granting of the visa to investors and businessmen wishing to invest in Iraq after the security stability in the country and the large turnout by investors in Iraq."

He pointed out that the Council followed the intelligence effort and ways to strengthen it with security plans to hunt down terrorist elements and cells. The implementation of the previous decisions was also followed up and a number of other topics on the agenda were discussed.
