An official source said on Sunday that two companies have been investigating the files of corruption in Iraq since 2003.
The source told "Shafak News" that "two companies, one American and one British are conducting the audit files of corruption in Iraq since 2003 so far, and its task to detect corruption and identify the identities of those involved."
Over the past years, the Iraqi government has used international auditors to track corruption files. Reports by international auditors have earlier revealed a waste of millions of dollars in energy projects, housing, reconstruction and trade projects.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi recently confirmed his intention to launch a new anti-corruption campaign targeting senior state officials involved in billions of dollars in corruption.
Reports from international anti-corruption organizations and government oversight agencies indicate waste and theft of billions of dollars since 2003 with fake and unfinished projects in various Iraqi provinces.
