Whats Up Doc? no RV!

7-23-2013  Newshound Guru Doc   Members of the Finance Committee was recently interviewed concerning currency reform.  There were several very telling quotes which pretty well disprove much of the "RV is at any moment" rumors...  Tamimi was quoted as "Development is the gateway to strengthening the currency. Thus, raising the value of the dinar is more important than the deletion of zeros".  From this it is quite evident that 1) the currency will strengthen (raise in valve) only as the economic environment improves, and 2) raising the value and deleting the zeros are not the same event.  Saleh continues this thought by saying "The deletion of three zeros from the currency means deleting three grades from the calculation records of the Republic of Iraq.  The decision to implement the deletion of zeros next year is very dangerous and risky. 7-23-2013  Newshound Guru Doc   He added, "We need to reform the currency management and accounting systems in the country in general. This can only be initiated in a new fiscal year".  What we gather from this is the probably of a float is much greater than a straight RV.  This suggests Iraq will allow the rate to appreciate as the economy improves and then at the opportune time introduce the new currency with 3 less zeros.  ...it is quite clear that this is the current plan.   [post 2 of 3....stay tuned]

Saleh was very clear to this point by pointing out the currency management and accounting systems still need reforming.  This is exactly what we have been reporting when we refer to the infrastructure is not completely in place.  Hence we now focus on passage of HCL, tariff laws, banking laws, etc.  This pretty well negates the "RV at any moment" and "$3+ rate" rumors...  While we wish Iraq would speed things up it does appear they are focused on doing this right with the long term view (3-5 year) of a stable, highly valuable global currency.  We report, you decide.  [post 3 of 3]

They may be right, however, right now, if my less than expert calculations are even close to correct, Iraq can easily support a value between $3 and $4 ... maybe even more ... doesn't mean they will do it, just means they have the resources to do it IF they decide the timing is right.

Oh wow so we have an even longer wait than I had anticipated? Bloody heck there goes the neighborhood!

By all the information available, there will be no RV. I expect a LOP with the removal of the zeros. No gain for anyone. This whole dinar RV has proven through time to be a classic meisleading of the masses. If an RV was in the plans, it would have occured by now.

I think you are jumping the gun here.  Far too many things left to accomplish before the currency will go up in value.  Initially I bought into the whole millionaire overnight idea, but over time realized this is a totally different situation than Kuwait.  There is far too much instability in Iraq for that scenario to happen.  I am completely on board with the free float idea and think the initial offering might be as low as .25 per dollar, which is still a decent profit.  Iraqi leaders have said time after time their objective is to be at a 1 to 1 exchange and see it go higher from there.  It may not be until mid 2014 until we see that 1 to 1 rate.

here is my two sense there will be no rv as long as m is around. they keep talking about changes then followed by 2 to 5 yrs why because they hve no freaken clue. they cannot even decide to go to burgerking or micky d for lunch. what they will do is just raise the value of the dinar give the people some crums and busisness as usual.they might have plenty of  money to support 3 dollars but why  give it to us infedels. but they will take the infedels money to build things in iraq. iraq is so unstabil now you have  people being killed  because of there sect  you have  a goi for the most part with out a clue and you have a dictator who is an agent for iran who wants people to just stay as they are. with all this the country is at the brink of civil war especially if sadr calls his army in   and you really think its going to rv?

M has ZERO to do with Iraqi currency. They have a central bank now and its owned by the PTB just as the Federal Reserve is owned by them. The currency/financial markets in the world are CONTROLLED by these people and it goes as they say, no exceptions. Well for my 2 cents worth I don't believe we will see an RV any time soon, time to go to plan B!

topspin have to disagree with you M put turki in charge. He is M man while the cbi might control the money M controls everything else. While they are doing the auctions and making money on it it helds laundering  the money to iran and syria.

 Unfortunately, some of us have already been through plan B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L and M.  Things continue to slid down hill and at my age that is not a good thing.
