Sad day in our family
Just to let you all know, there has been another death in my family...it's been a rough couple of months. Last month my cousin passed away and this morning, my last uncle also made his transition. He was Mom's only living sibling. So sad for her, but she took it very well. Please keep her in your prayers, to have the strength to get through the next few days. She will be 84 next month, and she is still going strong. She is amazing. My sisters and I took her to lunch today and told funny stories, remembrances to help keep up her strength.

May the grace and peace of God, that passes all understanding be upon you and your family.

Thank you all very much for your love, thoughts and prayers. We appreciate that. One good thing is to be able to see relatives you haven't seen in a while, only at funerals. Family reunions are the best, so much love.

Dear aim88: So sorry to hear that you've lost another uncle this past week. But isn't is lovely, if bittersweet, to sit around and share your memories of that person. It is a wonderful tribute. It is those stories, passed from one family member to another, that truly keeps the departed person alive in our hearts.
My prayers for you and your mother.

So true, SEB. Got to see 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th cousins, some I couldn't remember their names, some 73 years old!
Military guard was a surprise--we thought they were for someone else. Twenty-One Gun Salute and Taps was shocking and stunning. We held up pretty good till then, but it pierced straight to the heart. We all lost it. A solemn ceremony and such an honor. Then presentation of the flag--they tuck 3 of the empty shells from the bullets into the flag.
And Mom, brother, sisters, and I went by the house where we grew up, and stood in the road and took pictures. Lots of stories told and healing of old family wounds. With 5 people, 2 cars parked at odd angles with motors still running, staring, pointing, wild gesturing, and picture taking---thankfully, no one came out or called the police.

Re: Sad day in our family
After the last three years and the loss of my Son, Father in Law, Dad, Aunt, Mother in Law, and many very close friends I know how you feel. I have to give my sorrows to God on a daily basis, and ask and receive his comfort and peace, and he gives it to me.aim88 wrote:Thank you, Horizn, that brought tears to my eyes and very comforting words. Re: Sad day in our family
Horizon, that's a lot of life shocks, change, and letting go in three years. You must be strong by now. You are a source to joy to those around you, I know that from your presence here. You make a difference.
As I was leaving to go to the funeral, an ambulance pulled up to my elderly neighbor. I was running late and people were waiting on me, so I couldn't stop. They were moving slowly so I don't know if it's because she was already gone or it was not that bad. I will find out this morning. Lots of people leaving the planet in these very intense times.
Your words mean a lot. We forget to ask; I don't think we ask near enough. I do appreciate the reminder. And thank you for the continued prayers and I will pray for you, as well.
