Re: Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Everyone have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend!! Hey, Kevind53- Ask the guy on the far right if he'd be interested in selling that '67 Ford Galaxie Hardtop- I had one like it when I was in High School- A 2-door Hardtop with a 289 v8/ and a 'three on the tree' with overdrive-It was a light beige color- And that thing WOULD haul!!

Re: Happy Labor Day Weekend!
My dad had a '65 Galaxy with a ginormous engine. Looked like a sedate "old man's" car, but it was the fastest thing around. Prior to that he had a '56 Ford station wagon, red and white. After that engine gave out, he had it replaced with a T-bird engine. My brothers loved to drive that car .... No one could beat them off the light!

I remember those well- My Father had a '65 Galaxie, 4door hardtop, with a Thunderbird 352,4 barrel V8, dual exhaust with 'Cherrybomb' glass packs and a Cruise-o- matic 3 speed, and that thing would boogie, I know that-

Back in those days you had your Ford men and your Chevy men (at least in the midwest). Chryslers, Buicks and Caddy's ... not so much.

I own a '2000 Dodge 1/2 ton pick-up- I'm happy- Small V8, the wife has a 2004 Suzuki XL-7, V6- They are both paid for, and the gas mileage isn't bad- I am looking for a '61-'62 Sunliner, or Galaxie Convertible- I'll find one, one of these days- Always had a soft spot for those 'ol 'FE"series Ford V8's-

Yea, we had on as well, it was my mother's car ... a little older though, I remember it had horizontal fins ... come to think of it, maybe it was a Fairlane. Well the 60's were pretty much the same car, I do remember the cruisematic AT ... and it seemed like it could scoot, of course all I had to compare it to was a 63 Beetle ... sooo ....

We have a 2000 Prizm (Corolla disguised as a Chevy) that's OK and real good on gas, and a 2000 Accord that scoots like crazy and still gets decent mileage. Passing is a dream, 50 -80 in about 1.5 seconds, kinda like riding a catapult. She'll lay down the rubber when I want to as well ... yet very comfortable.

Re: Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Horizontal fins would be a 1960 Galaxie, or, without alot of chrome would be a Fairlane for that year- The 'Small' Fairlane was introduced in 1962-

Re: Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Here's my first car ... well pretty close, mine was a darker blue at least I remember it being darker the only pics I have a black and white ... sooo .... It had the 289 engine, posi rear end, and a 8000lb PTO winch ... I added brackets for a hi-lift jack, a shovel, and a folding anchor (not everyplace in Alaska had a tree handy when you needed it). OH yea, after having trouble with one, I replaced the locking hubs with solid one up from. Kodiak only had about 2 miles of paved road anyway.

Re: Happy Labor Day Weekend!
I seem to remember lots of chrome so it probably was a Galaxy.

Those Ford 'Broncos' were a pretty able rig- You had to go some to get screwed up off road with one of those-

Yep ... we had some pretty gnarly roads up there and the old girl never let me down ... one way or the other we always got out.

I believe that, because those 'Broncos' were tougher than a bag of sledgehammers! Not only that, but parts were relatively cheap back then, too-

Re: Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Speaking of Beetles, Terbo, I had a Beetle that filled up with water when it rained so my grandpa drilled a hole in the floor board to let the water drain out. You could see the road underneath while you were driving, LOL. It had a really good heater though. I went to college in that car, loved it! Only paid $300 for it used. Those were the good ole days.

Yes, they were, and holes in the floor or not, they were still an economical car to drive, and own, and they were fun to drive, and had a 'personality' all their own!
