Chick-Fil-A
Did anyone else try to buy lunch at a Chick-Fil-A restaurant today? I don't eat chicken, but I was going to buy some fries and gift cards for a few friends. I could not get near the place. The lines were out the door and into the parking lot. I guess the Support Chick-Fil-A Day was a resounding success.

Re: Chick-Fil-A
SEB, I had vowed to eat 3 meals today in support of a citizens' right to religious freedom without persecution from government fascists.
Breakfast at 6:30 this morning was not out of the ordinary crowd-wise. Lunch took me an hour and a half just to get my food.
Dinner? I normally pass by 3 Chick-Fil-A's on my way home from work. Well, today traffic was backed up for 3 blocks at each restaurant, so I decided to pass on my third meal there.
I'm afraid Mr Emanuel and the liberals' plans backfired. Today had to be the greatest day in Chick-Fil-a's history.

Re: Chick-Fil-A
Doodoo, excuse me, but it had nuthin to do with religious freedom at chic-fil-a- It was about marriage being binding and ONLY between a man and a woman, if I remember correctly, Back in the ages, it was Adam and Eve, not Gunther and Steve, and yes, I do agree that people should each have the religion of their choice, yes, indeedy do!

Re: Chick-Fil-A
I must respectfully disagree with you terb. Mr Cathy is very religious, so much so that he has never allowed a chick-fil-a to open on Sundays. I feel fairly sure that his stance on marriage is based on his deep religious conviction. He has never discriminated against hiring or serving anyone based on their sexual preference.
The statement he made was based on his beliefs, and Rahm and other mayors decided they would not allow any new restaurants in their towns due to his statement of his (religious) belief on the subject.
(CNN) - The fact that Chick-fil-A is a
company that espouses Christian values is no secret. The fact that its
1,600 fast-food chicken restaurants across the country are closed on
Sundays has long been testament to that.
But the comments of company President Dan Cathy about gay marriage to Baptist Press on Monday have ignited a social media wildfire.
"Guilty as charged," Cathy said when asked
about his company's support of the traditional family unit as opposed to
gay marriage.
"We are very much supportive of the family -
the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned
business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives.
We give God thanks for that," Cathy is quoted as saying.

Apparently you misunderstood what I was trying to say- Yes, it is a religious thing Mr. Cathy does, and yes, he is all for marriage between a man and a woman, and what part of that did you not understand? So, right back atcha!

No Chick-Fil-A anywhere nearby. The closest is 100 miles away as the crow flys, make that about 150 as the New Englander crawls....

Re: Chick-Fil-A
I know it started out as a battle of the biblical beliefs, but it turned in to a freedom of speech situation imo, if those of us christians dare to stand up for what we believe we are deemed racist, haters etc.....it's about time we got a fair shake and stand up, I'm tired of being politically correct, or bowing down to governmental or personal oppressions of my opinions, if I am not for gay marriage that does not mean I hate gays, it just means I disagree with that institution. I am sick and tired of being told I can no longer say Merry Christmas or that our schools are no longer allowed to display Christmas decorations (my kids' school took anything resembling Christmas out of the building) since when did Christianity become a four letter word?? I am proud to be a Christian, I am tolerant of others beliefs, why can't the respect be reciprocated?? Ok, I feel much better now!!

Our Chick-Fil-A had a Bomb Threat, The Bomb Squad was all over the place, and both entrances were blocked, just as I was driving by yesterday after picking a friend up at work which was next to Chick-Fil-A.

Re: Chick-Fil-A
The laws of our USA protect the rights of the religious AND irreligious.
On one hand a business is being told they cannot keep people from working there because they are gay.
On the other hand people believe that it is a religious right for the business to operate that way.
The government protects both sides...I see this going to court, because being gay is the same as having a handicap, being overweight, or your nationality. It is discrimination no matter how you slice it.

Re: Chick-Fil-A
IQD, the way I see it, there is discrimination in every sect, , tolerance etc.....if I spoke up about my personal feelings or beliefs, I would be kicked out, or the Gay pride parade, could they be sued for the specifics, "Gay", it's not just a gay issue, it's a religious, racial, gender, sexual oriented, political problem, discrimination occurs everywhere, I certainly can't walk in to a Black Panthers meeting without backlash, I respect all beliefs, chick fil a doesn't discriminate with it's employees, or who gets served, it only speaks it's opinion, how is that discrimination?

Re: Chick-Fil-A
here's an example
Gay rights supporters are planning a "National Same-Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A" on Friday. As part of the event, couples are encouraged to go one of the chicken restaurant's locations and take a photo or video of themselves kissing.
I don't see heterosexuals protesting in that manner, why the kissing? We don't need visuals of anyone regardless of preference, my kids are taught manners and morals, public displays of affection like that are not acceptable,

Well, well, wellllllllllllll......That's discrimination against straights.......I guess we may have to plan a "Straight Pride Day", or maybe we should organize the NAAWP - National Association for Advancement of Wasp People, or how about FFDD - Fathers For Drunk Drivers, CNHIRLA The Coalition for NO Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, AULU - American Uncivil Liberties Union......
I could go on, but I think you get the point!

Re: Chick-Fil-A
Here's my thought - what do I care who you love? NONE What business is it of mine who you have sex with? NONE If neither is me - I don't care.
I do care - however, that they get a bigger tax break. Since they cannot be married, they each get to claim single and or Head of Household, depending on thier circumstance of dependants.
If you add 2 single exemptions together - the get more of a tax break that a married couple - so they pay less in taxes. Now since I also pay taxes - NOW IT INVOLVES ME.
Take the personal opinion out of it and get down to what matters to everyone regardless of age, gender, heritage, religion, irreligion, and look at fairness to all - and that "couple" pays less tax than us heterosexual couples do.
JMHO - not meant to change anyones mind or debate religion or irreligion - but here is another thought for religious types:
About 30 yars ago the company Libby's sent a group of medical professional to Africa to aid the women there. The received donations from religious organizations to do humanitarian aid.
When they got there, there were performing abortions stating "the mothers lives were in jeopardy" and durig these abortions AND after the delivery of full term babies they STERILIZED the women without thier consent - because they were doing "humanitarian" work and it was not a good "choice" for these women to get pregnant and have children in thier type of environment.
To this day - Libby's doesn't enter my house, and if I go to someones home and see a Libby's can - I don't eat whatever was in the can.
And thats been 30 years. We must each make our own choice.
You have the right to raise your fist and shake it in anger - up to the point is makes contact with my nose.
For me - I am not judging. I am a civil libertarian that feels the government has too much control, and believe we should take it back. Not even saying they can or can't - saying I see this developing into more of an issue than it already is.
"Judge not - lest you be judged"

This is just not true statement of what went on
this week, IQD4US. Chick-Fil-A NEVER DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ANY GAY
PEOPLE! The owner merely stated his belief about gay unions which in his
opinion is condemned in GOD's Holy Word. Never has he or any of his
franchise owners stated that someone could not work at Chick-Fil-A due
to their race, creed, national origin, skin color or Sexual Preference.
No one has told them that they cannot keep people from working there because they are gay! What they did say was
" Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel have pledged to block the restaurant chain in their cities in response to Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy’s admission in recent interviews that he supports the biblical definition of marriage and not same-sex marriage."
How about this? Pedophiles are discriminated against because of their love
of children! I don't think anyone would be complaining if Chick-Fil-A
owner Dan Cathy said that he believes that Pedophilia is not in keeping
with God's word.
Will that be the next hot agenda for the libs to go after? You never know!
