THE ARAB MONETARY FUND PUBLISHES THE THIRTEENTH ISSUE OF A SERIES OF INTRODUCTORY BOOKLETS ON "THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY"

The Arab Monetary Fund publishes the thirteenth issue of a series of introductory booklets on "the knowledge economy"

The thirteenth issue aims to develop awareness of the features and pillars of a knowledge economy and the role of governments in this field

In light of its strategy for the period (2020-2025), the Arab Monetary Fund seeks to weave and strengthen the bonds of cooperation and communication with all concerned parties and groups in the Arab countries with the aim of achieving the goals for which the fund was established and disseminating economic and financial expertise and knowledge. In this context, and in the midst of the challenges facing Arab youth in a rapidly changing environment that delineates and defines the future of nations and societies, the Fund decided the importance of issuing a series of new introductory booklets aimed at enhancing the economic and financial awareness of Arab youth and enabling them to understand the basics of a number of issues that shape their reality and future.

The new series of booklets targets young age groups in the Arab world and those who are not specialists in economic and financial affairs in the Arab countries and generally addresses the Arab citizen with the aim of helping him to become familiar with the basics and various aspects related to some important issues such as financial inclusion, fundamentals of finance, modern financial technologies, artificial intelligence, and digital currencies. And other priority economic and financial issues. Through these booklets, the Fund hopes to contribute to strengthening the role of Arab youth in dealing with issues and developments around it with knowledge and expertise that will lead to effectively contributing to the realization of the future visions of Arab countries.

The issuance of the thirteenth issue of this series comes in recognition of the Arab Monetary Fund of the importance of spreading awareness of the features and pillars of the knowledge economy by shedding light on the importance of education in preparing the emerging generations to deal with the knowledge economy and making individuals real contributors in making the knowledge-based economy. Therefore, laying the first building blocks for the transition towards a knowledge economy falls mainly on the shoulders of educational institutions, headed by the ministries of education, academic institutions, and scientific research and development centers. In this context, the booklet emphasized the importance of educational institutions' cooperation with scientific research centers to spread and consolidate knowledge and culminate these stages with an outcome of the accumulation of knowledge capital that would enable individuals and institutions to contribute positively to this vital field.

Within the context of the Arab Monetary Fund’s strategy for the period (2020-2025), the fund focuses on supporting the transformation process towards knowledge economies in the Arab countries, through implementing a number of specific activities and interventions of a strategic dimension in the areas related to its work, including supporting digital transformation in the monetary fields. And finance, which greatly serves the knowledge economy.

These activities come within the framework of the efforts aimed at achieving the Fund's vision 2040 to be the closest partner for Arab countries in their interaction with economic developments and developments to strengthen the centers of stability in the Arab countries, as part of a proactive approach to help Arab countries keep pace with the merits of the transition towards a knowledge economy.
