Shafaq News / The representative of the Sairoun bloc, Salam Al-Shammari, confirmed on Sunday that the upcoming sessions of the Iraqi parliament will include voting on laws he described as "important" in order to leave positive imprints for the work of the current parliament.

Al-Shammari said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that "many laws have been completed by the concerned committees, whether it is an amendment or new laws, and they are awaiting the inclusion of the Presidency of Parliament for it in the next sessions to vote."

Al-Shammari added that "one of the most important of these laws is the amendment of the provincial councils law, the criminal court law, oil and gas, the Federation Council, in addition to other laws."

He referred to "the necessity of attending the sessions and achieving the required quorum in order to pass laws and continue the oversight work of Parliament in the service of the public interest."

It is scheduled that the Iraqi Council of Representatives will hold its meeting next Saturday, May 29, 2021, to vote on a number of draft laws according to a document published earlier.

Shafaq News / The Kurdistan Democratic Party Parliamentary Bloc revealed, on Saturday, a preliminary agreement for the political forces to settle the oil and gas law in Parliament, before the end of its session.

The representative of the bloc, Diyar Barwari, told Shafaq News, that "the oil and gas law is one of the important laws in the House of Representatives, and there was a serious intention to head the parliament to vote on the law in previous sessions, but the postponement came as a result of Parliament's preoccupation with the general budget law."

Berwari added, "The political blocs, including the Kurdish one, submitted their observations on some articles of the law to the Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee," noting that "there is confirmation of the remarks that they do not violate the constitution."

Berwari noted, "There is an initial agreement by the political forces to resolve the oil and gas law before the end of the parliamentary session, with a real desire to vote on the law during the upcoming sessions of the House of Representatives."

The ministries of oil and energy in the governments of Erbil and Baghdad are keen on the need to expedite the passage of the oil and gas law because of its importance in organizing the management of oil and gas wealth in Iraq.
