Iraq is studying the introduction of investment and tax collection in highways

Mubasher: The Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works in Iraq announced that the study of the introduction of investment and taxation in highways will soon be completed.

The information office of the ministry stated today, Tuesday, that "the Roads and Bridges Department, one of the Ministry's formations, is close to completing the study of the introduction of investment and taxation in expressway roads for the purpose of improving the level of service for operational reality."

For his part, Director General of the Roads and Bridges Department, Hussain Jassim, said that a contract has recently been signed with an international consultancy office to prepare a study on the introduction of investment and taxation in expressways.

He emphasized that this experiment is being carried out for the first time in the country despite the existence of a global system in this regard, and that there are many offers that wish to invest in external roads.

Jassim explained, "Once implemented, the project will lay the correct basis on which to rely on road investment and the use of taxation, which guarantees the right of the state and the investor in this project, the amount of benefit, and what is spent on building the road, the duration of the contract and other details."
