Al-Maliki: Iran believes that it is defending itself in Iraq

The former Iraqi prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, said today, Monday, that Iran believes it is defending itself in Iraq.

He wrote in a press article, "The problem of Iraq with the American-Israeli-Saudi axis is a strategic problem linked to the aggressive, arrogant and authoritarian project of this axis, which targets Iraq's sovereignty at the core."

He added, "As for the problem of Iraq with Iran, it is a tactical problem related to the expansion of its security vision based on protecting its borders, order and security, to reach interference in local Iraqi affairs."

He pointed out that "rejecting the American-Israeli-Saudi project does not mean allowing the Islamic Republic of Iran to interfere in the movement of the Iraqi state, far from its decision and sovereignty."
