The General Company for Railways of Iraq, on Friday, embarked on a massive campaign to eliminate excesses, in order to raise the efficiency of railways in the western region.

The Director General of Railways, Talib Jawad Kadhim, said in a statement that People received a copy of it (November 20, 2020), that in implementation of the Minister of Transport’s directives regarding the need to improve the performance of the affected areas, raise the efficiency of the railways and remove the excesses thereof, the specialized committee in the company proceeded in the presence of the representative of the department "The legal authorities at the Ministry's headquarters, with extensive campaigns to reduce the size of the damage and abuse on land, property and railway taboos by the people of the periphery of the sectors of the Ramadi region, starting from the stations (Al-Karma - Fallujah - Ramadi in the east and Al-Ramadi in the west to the Heet train station)."  

Al-Husseini stressed "imposing the force of law and submitting warnings and lawsuits in the competent courts while imposing fines on transgressors in coordination with the Railways Police Directorate in the region, and the accurate and continuous follow-up of judicial correspondence on transgressors by the region to limit these violations on government lands."    

On Thursday, the Syrian Railways said that it had signed an agreement with its Iraqi counterpart, with the aim of developing and exchanging research and studies, training technical personnel and exchanging scientific visits between the two sides.  
The Director General of the Syrian Railways Corporation, Najeeb Fares, added, in a statement to "SANA", after signing the agreement with the General Director of the Iraqi General Railways Company, Talib Jawad Kadhim, followed by "People" (19 November 2020), that "the agreement aims to develop and exchange research. Studies, training of technical personnel, exchange of scientific visits, conferences, transfer of railway technology, the extent of safety, conditions and international standards.    

He pointed out that "the agreement also includes ways to develop production, reduce costs, and increase investment in rail transport to improve it economically and developmentally, in order to create a flexible environment for the movement of commercial activity between the two brotherly countries."    

According to what SANA reported, "Syrian Minister of Transport Zuhair Khuzaim met with the Iraqi Ministry of Transport delegation, after the signing of the agreement, where the two sides discussed activating joint cooperation bonds and ways to confront the unilateral coercive economic sanctions imposed on both countries.
