A member of the Parliamentary Media and Communications Committee, Alaa al-Rubaie, revealed, yesterday, Tuesday, that Iraqis have spent money amounting to 38 million dollars per day on mobile phone communications, while stressing the need to adhere to the decision recently voted by the House of Representatives, which is binding on the establishment of the government and the Media Authority And contacts with the establishment of a national mobile phone company.

Al-Rubaie said in a press statement: No country in the world is devoid of a mobile or national telecommunications company that competes with investment companies by reducing costs for their citizens and improving the quality and quality of service provided to them, except in Iraq. There is no such company, and investment companies have become a monopoly for this sector at very high prices and their service is not at the required level. Therefore, the state must establish the National Mobile Company.

Al-Rubaie explained, "We are not against the investor in the country being profitable, but not by twisted ways that circumvent the laws in cooperation with the corrupt by achieving imaginary profits that the mind cannot imagine in millions of dollars at the daily, monthly and annual levels."

He continued, "The number of mobile phone lines in Iraq is about 38 million lines, because most citizens have between 2 to 4 lines, and this number is equivalent to the inhabitants of four neighboring countries, especially the Gulf." Profits will be $ 38 million per day, while only $ 500 million per year, according to the licensing rounds, reaches the state treasury.

Al-Rubaie pointed out that "in all countries of the world, most of the revenues of the mobile investment companies go to the public treasury, but not in Iraq, as the revenue is not commensurate with the profit actually achieved."
