BAGHDAD / IRAQ:
The head of the parliamentary human rights committee, Arshad al-Salhi, said Tuesday that he was deeply concerned about the use of excessive violence against demonstrators.

In a statement received by Al-Akhbariya, Al-Salhi said that "reports received from the Human Rights Commission and from our reliable sources confirm the grave violation of the right of peaceful demonstrators by using tear gas canisters with direct injuries to the head, which should be fired on the air to fall to the ground and weaken its effectiveness on the demonstrator." It should be used only in cases where the demonstrator is dispersed. "

Salhi confirmed "

"The committee is documenting all violations to be presented to the Iraqi parliament and public opinion," Salhi said, calling on all security forces to release the detainees and activists as soon as possible.
