The High Commissioner for Human Rights announced on Wednesday that it is coordinating with the relevant authorities in order to accommodate slum dwellers in Bismayah residential complex.

Al-Bayati stressed, “The Commission intends to coordinate with the relevant government agencies to make the necessary preparations for their housing in the Bismayah residential complex, as the project is a government investment project in which residents can find jobs in their neighboring areas through the establishment of factories and factories in the same area. Al-Bayati disclosed that "Baghdad governorate includes 1000 random complexes out of a total of 3,000 and 700 of which are scattered throughout the country, which is inhabited by nearly 800 thousand people," pointing out that the problem of slums existed in the country for a long time but was limited and increased upward Until 2014, it reached 7.3 percent of the housing stock in Iraq and 6.9 percent of the population in Iraq.

He explained that "one of the most important ways to address this phenomenon is to find cooperation and coordination between all institutions and ministries concerned to address poverty and social causes of material, in addition to the establishment of a full database on the inhabitants in these complexes and to enable the interested party to know their economic, social and security situation and therefore It can also enact the right to housing law in fulfillment of Article 30 of the Iraqi Constitution, and take the necessary economic and security measures in addition to involving the community in these remedies as well.
