It would seem totally out of character for the GOI, and/or Shabs, to announce the likelihood of the RV weeks in advance. Common sense would tell us that if the RV was known to the general public for even a day, much less weeks, before it is active would cost the GOI untold millions if not billions.

According to the post that I read Ghost stated that Okie was told that Shabs announced on TV in Iraq the pending RV. Obviously, or so we could assume, a source inside Iraq relayed to Okie the info from the telecast. As we have all learned there is a lot that can be lost in the Arabic translation... Especially for Westerners.

Weeks ago there was a blurb in an article posted that GOI workers would be getting backpay. Could this be related to the announcement Shabs made yesterday?

It just does not make sense for GOI to announce a new rate of exchange... It just does not make sense, does it???

Was the speech recorded with English subtitles for us to see? Can we find it on the net somewhere?

Iraq annonced the rate in the budget at 3.46, that would be 90 billion divided by 26 million. What we do not know if it is pegged to the USD or GBP. The budget seems to be in USD. AJ

Its in the Iraq 2011 budget by doing the figures. Randy koonce has been saying this for months on the currency chatter calls. I do not have a copy of the budget, but i do have other documents that show the exchange rate will be pre sudam rates, which was at 3.3778, with a little inflation built in 3.46 is sound. Actually IF all the auctions for the last few months have been interbank auctions within Iraq, which only effects proportional banking within the scope of in country banking commerce. (ie if I have 10 and you have 1 and the rate goes up 3x then I still have 10 times more than you do)

And Iraq will only be cashing in what is already abroad, regardless of whether it is held by the UST, a currency trader, or a private individual.

Then it doesn't cost Iraq one cent more to let us know about it. The only difference is whether I hold it or someone else holds it. I can't personally get dinar from inside the CBI without them letting it out.

I'm not saying that this is the case, I'm just saying that if the IFs are correct then this is a possibility.
