Planning Declares Monthly and Annual Inflation Rate for May

The Ministry of Planning announced a monthly inflation rate of 0.6% and the annual decline of last May 0.8%.

The ministry spokesman Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement read by "Economy News" that "the index of the month of February 2019 in Iraq was 103.8%, down by 0.6% compared to April 2019," referring to " The food and non-alcoholic beverages sector decreased by 1.4%, the housing section by 0.6%, the household equipment and maintenance by 0.4%, the transport and communication sectors by 0.3%, the entertainment and culture section by 0.1% and the restaurants and hotels section by 0.3%.

"The annual inflation rate decreased during the month of May 2019 to 0.8% compared with May 2018, when the index was then 104.6%," he said, pointing out "the drop in the base inflation index by 0.3% from the previous month and decreased by 0.9% compared with the month of May 2018 ".
