The Office of the Inspector-General of the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that the state coffers were to be increased by more than 17 billion dinars by obligating companies contracted by the Ministry of Health to pay their taxes.

Inspector General of the Ministry, Ibrahim Hamid Al-Zubaidi said in an interview with the official newspaper "Al-Sabah" and read by "Al-Iktissad News" that "an audit team from the office succeeded in escaping the state treasury by more than 17 billion dinars. The team conducted a comprehensive census of contracts of foreign companies contracting with The ministry through the company (Kimadia) and includes contracts for medicines and medical supplies and equipment for engineering imports and laboratory contracts.

He pointed out that "the procedure was audited by the tax accounting for the contracts completed by several companies and for a period of ten years for the period from 2008 to 2018, as the team noted that many of the contracts have not been settled and pay their taxes," noting that "the cooperation of the Department of Appropriations in (Kimadia) With the audit team led to the amount of amounts and sent to the General Authority for Taxation as the state tax for the current year finally.

Al-Zubaidi called on the concerned parties to "follow up the obligation of the contracting companies to pay their tax revenues to the state treasury under the tax accounting instructions." He added that his office continued to check all contracts of companies contracting with the ministry in this field, .

He explained that his office "held an extensive meeting with a number of officials of the ministry in the framework of preparing the mechanism to implement the national strategy to achieve the National Index of Integrity," stressing that "during the fight against corruption prepared by the Integrity Commission from 2019 to 2022 meeting to determine the mechanism to implement the strategy "He said.
