Experts from the Defense Education Promotion Program at NATO headquarters and other professional defense education institutions in allied countries held a week-long visit to the Defense University for military studies in Baghdad.
The experts met with representatives from the Training Directorate of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, the Presidency of the Defense University for Military Studies, the National Defense College, the War College, the Defense of Languages ​​Institute, the College of Staff, the College of Command and the Military College and the Center for Strategic Studies and Research.
"This visit came in support of NATO's commitment to Iraq to help further develop Iraq's military professional education institutions as part of broader efforts to reform national security structures," the alliance said.
"The first phase of the Defense Education Enhancement Program for Iraq will focus on three institutes under the umbrella of the Defense University for Military Studies, the Military College, the National Defense College and the Defense Institute for Languages," he said. And plans to upgrade the academic curricula and the development of trainers and institutional capacities, and will now work on the completion of an assessment report and then take further steps in close cooperation with the presidency of the University of Defense.
"The implementation of the Defense Education Promotion Program for Iraq is expected to take from 2019 to 2021," he said.
