After more than 55 years on his recent visit to Iraq, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri visited Baghdad for several days, hoping to achieve many goals, including political and economic.

One of these important objectives is to strengthen the ties between the Shiite reference in Lebanon and the Najaf reference in general and the supreme reference, especially Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.

Berri, who has not visited Iraq since 1963, discussed with Iraqi officials the bilateral relations and common interests between the two countries, the most important of which is the re-activation of the oil pipeline from Iraq to Lebanon through Syria and benefiting from Iraqi expertise in the field of oil production and mutual cooperation.

"Berri's visit is to reunite with Iraq and its role, which is expected to become an important hub in the region, easing the tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia," said MP Mahmoud Khawaja, a member of the Lebanese parliament's Development and Liberation bloc.

"The bad relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia are not limited to them, but extend to the region as a whole, as proof of this and the proxy wars we have witnessed between the two countries," he said.

Berri's quest for the restoration of relations in the region, Arab and regional has the support and support of Hezbollah, which in turn benefits from any improvement of relations between Iran and Turkey, according to Lebanese parliamentary sources.

"Iran is satisfied with the Berri movement and has great confidence in it," the sources said.
