The Foreign Relations Committee of the House of Representatives on Sunday that the evacuation of US troops from Iraq does not require new legislation and the government can take them out according to the terms of the Treaty (Sofa) between the parties.
" The evacuation of US forces from Iraqi territory does not require new legislation and the government can end their presence according to two clauses in the (Sofa) agreement between the two parties," MP Amer al-Fayez said in a press statement .
He added that 'one of the clauses states that the entry of US troops into Iraqi territory is permitted only with the consent of the Iraqi side or at the request of the Iraqi side, as well as an item indicating that the US forces are not allowed to enter the neighboring countries to interfere with the Iraqi constitution.'
"The Iraqi government and the parliament are able to evacuate these forces through the Sufa Treaty, otherwise the US ambassador will be called through diplomatic channels to activate the terms of the treaty," he said.
