The management of the FAO large project warns of damage to the waves

 Basra

The management of the project of the port of Faw in the province of Basra, on Sunday, the possibility of exposure parts of the Caspian east and west waves to damage unless the completion of the construction of the port, which stressed the importance of economic great.

The project manager, Engineer Asaad Abdul Rahim Al-Rashed said in an interview with Alsumaria News, that "after the completion of the breaker of the eastern waves in full, and the rate of completion of the breakwater waves Western 95%, we do not hide our concern that the possibility of internal parts of the losers to damage if not "The breakwater is designed to withstand at least 100 years, but some interior parts are designed for shorter periods of time. If the port construction project is delayed, these parts may be prematurely destroyed."

Al-Rashed pointed out that "the optimism did not leave us even in the worst circumstances, and now we feel more optimistic than before to feel that there is interest in the construction of the port by the Ministry of Transport and the Prime Minister," adding that "the subsequent steps of the project include digging basin basin and the establishment of berths, The project will be implemented through investment, and there are several foreign companies allied expressed willingness and willingness to implement the project.

In 2010, the Ministry of Transport laid the foundation stone for the port of Faw, which, according to its basic designs, was designed by an Italian consulting firm. It includes 46 berths, including a container yard and a multi-purpose yard. The maximum capacity of the port is expected to be 99 million tons per year when all planned phases are completed.

The South Korean company Daewoo is constructing the western breakwater at the port site, while the Greek company Arcoridon established the breakwater of the eastern waves, after which it was decided to start digging the port basin and deepening the navigational channel leading to it. However, the government was unable to provide the necessary funds For the implementation of subsequent phases of the project.

The government allocated 46 million euros in 2011 to pay the price of the consultancy contract for the project, and in 2012 allocated 470 billion dinars for the purchase of two excavators and the establishment of a breakwater barrier. In 2014, the Ministry of Finance allocated 500 billion dinars to cover the cost of establishing 60% Western waves, and then the government faced difficulty in allocating more funds for the project, so I presented it as a whole investment opportunity.
