Disable official working hours tomorrow (today)

Cabinet decided on Monday to disrupt the official working day for Tuesday.

"It was decided to disrupt the official working day of Tuesday, 25/12/2018, on the occasion of the birthday of Jesus Christ, and decide to adopt a draft as a public holiday every year," the statement said.

"It is decided that the holiday will be for the 25 and 26 December 2018 days for the Christians," he said. LINK

The Cabinet announces Christmas Day to be an official holiday across Iraq

The Cabinet holds its weekly session on Monday in Baghdad chaired by Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.

The Cabinet votes to amend the national holidays law in order to make 25th December of each year, Christmas Day, an official holiday across Iraq.

The Cabinet approves the annual report of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Council.

Oil prices fall to $ 50

International oil prices plunged more than 6 percent to a one-year low on Monday as markets were hit by worries about a global economic slowdown.

US crude and benchmark crude futures hit Brent's lowest level since 2017, making crude on the course of a 40% drop in the quarter. US crude futures hit their lowest level since June 22, 2017, while Brent crude hit its lowest level since August 17, 2017. Markets across all asset levels were under pressure as growing concerns over the US government's shutdown. Investors turned to safe havens like gold and US debt instruments. US crude futures were settled at $ 42.53 a barrel, down $ 3.06, or 6.7 percent, at the session.

Brent crude fell $ 3.35 a barrel, or 6.2 percent, to settle at $ 50.47 a barrel. Brent fell 11 percent last week to its lowest level since September 2017, while US futures contracts hit their lowest level since July 2017, bringing the contract down to 35 percent in the quarter. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and Russia agreed earlier this month to cut production by 1.2 million bpd starting in January to curb supply. UAE Energy Minister Suhail al-Mazroui said on Sunday that OPEC and its allies would hold an extraordinary meeting if the cuts did not stop to balance the market. LINK

Sudanese: I doubt the ability of the government and the House of Representatives to address the scourges of corruption

MP Mohammed Shi'a al-Sudani, on Monday, he doubted the ability of the government and the House of Representatives to address the scourges of corruption and extra-judicial killing militias and the law.

"After 60 days we are still faltering (government, parliament and political forces) in the completion of the ministerial line," al-Sudani said in a tweet on Twitter. "Is it possible for us at this level of performance to deal with the mafia of corruption and extra-state killing militias and the law? "He said.

"Can we agree on an (Iraqi Marshall) project for the reconstruction and development of the country? Would we have a unified position on what is going on in the region?" He asked. LINK
