Japan confirms its "keen interest" in its relations with the Kurdistan Region

The new Japanese ambassador to Iraq that his country attaches great importance to its relations with the Kurdistan Region, praising the developments witnessed by the region on all levels.

The Japanese emphasis came during the reception of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Nezhirvan Barzani, to Ambassador Naofumi Hashimoto, the Japanese Consul General in the Kurdistan Region Moriasso Katsumi and their accompanying delegation in Arbil on Tuesday.

Ambassador Hashimoto expressed his pleasure to visit the Kurdistan Region and his hope in the continued coordination and cooperation of the provincial government with its functions and activities is the Japanese consulate in the Kurdistan Region.

The Japanese diplomat also praised the participation of the Kurdistan Region in the political process in Iraq in the hope of solving the problems between Arbil and Baghdad through dialogue, and also touched on dialogues in the Kurdistan Region to form a new government cab.

A statement by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Nezhirvan Barzani, as saying that the Kurdistan Region looks attentively to its relations with Japan and its continuation, thanking Tokyo for the projects carried out in the whole of Iraq and had the Kurdistan region share of them.

While wishing Ambassador Hashimoto success and concurrence, he stressed the continued support of the regional government for its success in its new tasks. 

He also pointed out the Kurdistan Regional Government to the participation of the Kurdish parties in the new cab of the Iraqi government, hoping to resolve the outstanding problems between Arbil and Baghdad through dialogue, declaring that there is serious dialogue between the political forces to form a new Kurdistan Regional Government.

The discussion on the situation in Iraq in general and issues related to the situation in the region, was another aspect of the meeting.
