Mishan al-Jubouri: How will the Iraqi government's position on killing 50 Iraqis in Kuwait?

BAGHDAD /

Former MP Mishan al-Jubouri on Saturday questioned the Iraqi government's stance on the execution of 50 Iraqi citizens who were living in Kuwait after the Iraqi army withdrew in 1991.

Al-Jabbouri wrote in a tweet on his official Twitter account, followed by Al-Ghad Press. "The Kuwaiti police discovered in 1991 that 50 Iraqi residents were arrested and deported in a mass grave."

"When the cemetery was recently discovered, the Kuwaiti authorities have shut down the crime," he said.

"How will the Iraqi government stand and what measures will it take?"

Earlier today, MPs Uday Awad and Zahra al-Bijari called for the recall of Kuwait's ambassador to Iraq and opened an investigation into the discovery of a mass grave containing the remains of 50 Iraqi citizens who were living in Kuwait during the invasion of Kuwait by the former regime.

Al-Bijari said in a statement received by Al-Ghad Press that "at a time when the State of Kuwait is demanding its financial entitlements due to the entry of Iraqi forces during the time of the buried regime, it must pay the price of killing innocent souls and the inviolability of innocent blood in its land."

"At the time we are associated with neighboring Kuwait and we have good historical relations that do not reflect their actions, some individuals should clarify their position on hiding the killing of 50 Iraqi residents on the pretext that they are Iraqis and their presence coincided with the entry of Iraqi forces.

Awad said in a statement received by Al-Ghad Press that "the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs must open an investigation into the circulation of the social media pages of a video published by one of the Kuwaiti media showing a member of the Interior Ministry admits that a senior official in the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry executed 50 Iraqi citizens before (23) years. "

He pointed out that "the Kuwaiti government and the competent authorities to clarify the fact that was addressed by an associate in the Ministry of the Interior of Kuwait."
