THE ARAB MONETARY FUND, IN COOPERATION WITH THE MENA FINANCIAL ACTION TASK FORCE (MENAFATF), IS ORGANIZING A WORKSHOP ON "RISK BASED SUPERVISION ON MONEY LAUNDERING AND MITIGATION" ABU DHABI - UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

2018-12-05

A workshop on " Risk-Based Supervision on Money Laundering and Mitigation " organized by the Arab Monetary Fund's Institute for Economic Policy in collaboration with the MENA Financial Action Task Force ( MENAFATF ) opened in Abu Dhabi from 4 to 6 December 2018.

The existence of strong risk management to deal with money laundering is of great importance because it avoids large costs that can result from many risks such as reputational risk, risk of non-compliance, operational risk, etc. Hence the importance of such a workshop, which will focus on the following main points:

 • Main criteria for risk-focused monitoring.

 • To direct the resources of regulators to the main risks.

 • Initiate a risk-focused control strategy.

 • Resources for field and office monitoring related to money laundering.

 • Principles for assessing and understanding the risks of money laundering at banks.

 • Giving priority to the risks of money laundering in the regulatory bodies.

On this occasion came in a speech by His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al- Hamidi, Director General Chairman of the Board of Directors: (text)

HE Abdulhafeez Mansour, Chairman of the Special Investigation Commission of the Republic of Lebanon and current Chairman of MENAFATF Group, stressed the importance of these training courses which will deepen the awareness of the financial sector supervisors of the best practices and international standards relevant to their work. He also praised the close relationship between the Fund and the Group in the field of disseminating knowledge, studies, conferences and joint committees between the two sides, wishing the attendees benefit from the content of the workshop and looking forward to further cooperation with the Arab Monetary Fund in the future in various fields of joint work.
