 The work of rehabilitating the roads of the Green Zone in central Baghdad, which is scheduled to open on Sunday, continues. 

The opening of the roads follows its closure from 2003 until now. 

The opening of these roads will reduce traffic congestion in areas close to the region. 

Informed Iraqi sources said on Thursday that the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, intends to open the Green Zone in the center of the capital Baghdad to citizens as of Sunday.



"The traffic will open to the vehicles on the road extending from Damascus Square towards the hanging bridge in the Green Zone, in addition to opening the exit points to the Unknown Soldier Square near the tunnel between the Karrada Mariam and Baghdad clock," an informed source said.
