Rohani expects to increase the volume of trade with Iraq to 20 billion dollars

Iranian President Hassan Rowhani said on Saturday that bilateral trade between Iran and Iraq could rise to $ 20 billion a year from $ 12 billion at present amid fears in Tehran over the economic impact of renewed US sanctions.
Rowhani made the remarks after meeting with visiting Iraqi President Barham Salih and comes about two weeks after Washington re-imposed sanctions targeting Iran's oil sector as well as banking and transport.
"Thanks to bilateral efforts, we can increase this size of bilateral trade to $ 20 billion in the near future," Rohani said in remarks broadcast live on state television.
"We have had talks on trade in electricity, gas, petroleum products and activities ... in oil exploration and extraction," he said
