Natural World: Miracle In the Marshes Of Iraq
Donning his body armour, filmmaker David Johnson travels to Iraq's Mesopotamian Marshes to meet Azzam Alwash, the man at the centre of the largest habitat recreation project in the world. Considered to be original Garden of Eden, the marshes were once Iraq's wildlife jewel, where man and nature thrived for 5,000 years.

In the 1990's, Saddam Hussein drained the marshes, destroying thousands of people's homes and those of millions of birds. This revealing film documents the re-birth of this unique wetland and hopes for the return of its many wildlife species.

Welcome to Earth Unplugged! We make films about the incredible natural world, we investigate the conundrums, quirks and beautiful science of our amazing planet, delving into the BBC vaults and mixing it up with our own stuff to take a brand new look at Earth.
