In the presence of His Excellency the Director-General and Chairman of the Arab Monetary Fund Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Humaidi, the 15th Meeting of the Regional Working Group on Enhancing Financial Inclusion in the Arab States was opened on Sunday 4 November 2018 at the Beach Rotana Hotel, Abu Dhabi. It is noteworthy that the team emanates from the Board of Governors of Central Banks and Arab Monetary Institutions, and includes in its membership managers and officials concerned with the issues of financial coverage of these banks and institutions. The meeting will also be attended by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), representatives of the Global Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), the Islamic Development Bank Group, the German Development Agency (GIZ) and the World Bank Group. The meeting will also be attended by representatives of the Union of Arab Securities Commissions and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The panel will discuss a number of important issues and topics, including the first Arab Financial Technologies Forum to be held on 12 and 13 December 2018, the expected results of the Arab world and the application of the field survey model to the demand side for financial services for individuals and families. The meeting will also review the first draft of the study on financing for rural communities and small farmers, as well as the discussion of digital identity in the framework of the development of modern financial techniques. The meeting will also review the national strategy for financial coverage in Tunisia 2018-2020, as well as Egypt's experience towards financial inclusion. The results of the questionnaire on Islamic finance and financial inclusion in the Arab countries will also be discussed. The meeting will also discuss how to promote economic development by supporting the incubator environment to enhance financing for SMEs. The requirements and how to apply the G20 principles for financial services in the Arab countries will be discussed, as well as the proposals of the activities of the Arab Day for Financial Inclusion 2019 and the updates of the Regional Initiative for Enhancing Financial Coverage in the Arab Countries (FIARI).
