Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Tuesday that talks about taking office in the next government were premature.

Abadi said at the weekly conference that he would determine his status and the nominations made by various political sources in the light of the new government's data and the political situation.

"We are discussing with the rest of the parties what is the best for the country," Abadi said, noting that the issue of candidacy for some ministries is "open."

"We intend to continue serving the Iraqi citizen," he said.
