Hundreds of people from Basra participated in a march demanding reforms to the political system and the development of the local economy.

The protesters demanded job opportunities for the unemployed and improved basic services, especially addressing the salt and water pollution crisis.

The demonstrators denounced the assassination of the activist and member of the Organization for Human Rights, Suad Ali, by unknown gunmen in the Abbasiyah area in the center of the city of Basra in broad daylight, demanding the disclosure of the armed body behind the assassination.
