The Iraqi parliament failed on Thursday to hold a session to approve an amendment to the election law to extend the legislative life that will end the end of this month.

A parliamentary source told Shafak News that the president of the council, Salim al-Jubouri, sent a request to the legal committee to determine another day for the session. He added that the legal committee entered into a meeting to discuss the possibility of holding a meeting on Friday or Saturday.

This comes at a time opposed in most parliamentary blocs to extend the life of the current session of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, stressing that this measure is contrary to the Constitution and the law.
