Iraq calls on countries of the Kuwait Conference to abide by the promises of reconstruction

The Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers Mehdi Alalak, on Monday, the representatives of the diplomatic missions in his country to follow up the implementation of the commitments announced by their countries at the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq.
On the sidelines of a meeting held with the representatives of the European Union, the United Nations and the World Bank, he stressed the importance of following up the outcome of the conference and dealing with loans and grants and investment opportunities in accordance with the frameworks developed by Iraq in cooperation with the World Bank.
He stressed the importance of the commitment of the parties to the time limits to schedule work according to the priorities of the Iraqi government in the current stage, which is based on stability and start to invest in various areas in all governorates.
The meeting reviewed data prepared by the World Bank on the breakdown of the funds that countries are committed to operating in Iraq and includes areas of expenditure according to the interest of the participating countries and their channels of management.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the International Conference on Iraq Reconstruction, held last week in Kuwait, had been a resounding success, and his government did not expect to receive such financial support, pledging "extraordinary" measures to ensure that funds reach its target.
