supposedly we are waiting for forex to close on friday for the rates to change, I was just wondering why they didn't change the rates last friday and start off the new year with the new rates, that just seems more logical to me, but then again when has logic had anything to do with this event?

I was at my bank today and happened to ask for VND and IQD rates... Dong was the same, IQD was 0086! Is that good?

ShayJay-- Are you sure they said .0086 ? Because it's been .0000086 for a very long time.

Shayjay:
Yes, not that many zeros! He then asked me if I had a lot... and did I know Iraq was about to revalue their currency. I played it cool and said yes, I think I heard something about that!

So, isn't that good the less zeros? That banker gave me his card and Said to check back later this week!!!

I'm excited that my bank that once didn't even have it on the screen, did today! And the bank is more openly discussing it, where they denied just a few months ago….. I was shocked that I didn't get the usual "we don't deal in that currency" speech... That banker looked it up on the bank screen and REALLY started smiling and whispering so no one could hear our conversation!

Abadi stop paying the salaries of members of the House of Representatives

Media sources - a parliamentary source said on Wednesday that the Iraqi Trade Bank TBI refused to pay the salaries of members of Parliament on the order of Prime Minister Haider Abadi until the adjustment of those salaries according to academic achievement.

"MPs are surprised that their salaries have not yet been paid," the source told local media.

The source added that "the bank told the deputies to stop salaries by order of Abadi until modified according to the academic achievement of each deputy."

The members of the House of Representatives receive their monthly salaries at the beginning of each month, unlike other institutions of the Iraqi state, whose employees receive salaries on specific days, often after the end of half a month at least . link

Yada: gtcnote,,you miss the point of “its done”,,,it’s done regarding the rv and Iraq,,the people are walking around with their debit cards and have increased spending power on them.,,we are awaiting the release of the international rate,,not just in the US but all over,,expecting the release with next down time of the market to the reopening or this weekend,,,

Hosackr: Weren’t the Iraqis going to have the rate to themselves for about ten days? How long have they had the rate on their cards – at the street level?

Hosackr: this was put out here way back that they’d have it alone and enjoy it for a period of time before the whole world. I’ve heard from 4 to 10 days. Just wondered how long they’ve had it on their cards

Bearfoot: My opinion: The world will blow up if they release it when the markets are open.

Jacksmits: bearfoot it won’t….aside from the specific markets dealing with it who will be totally buzzing, the rest of the world markets will feel it like a little groundswell and a little impetus…most won’t even know about it….like even us with the Kuwaiti dinar when it happened.
