VN sees IMF as fellow partner, PM says
(20/09/2011)

Việt Nam always sees the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a partner going along with its development process, said PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng.

PM Dũng made the statement during a reception for IMF Senior Resident Representative for Việt Nam Benedict Bingham and his successor Sanjay Kalra in Hà Nội on September 19.
The Government chief hailed the IMF official’s efforts and good will as well as close coordination between IMF and Việt Nam over the past time, describing these as supporting IMF in making factual evaluation of the country’s macro-economy.

PM Dũng affirmed the Government’s determination to focus on curbing inflation, stabilizing the macro-economy as the top tasks.

The Cabinet will speed up the economic restructuring in a bid to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the economy and maintain growth at a reasonable rate.
PM Dũng hoped that both sides would further accelerate coordination, particularly in policy consultation, in the future.

He also asked Mr. Sanjay Kalra, who will take office next month, to support Việt Nam in hosting the IMF/WB annual meeting.
