Most of the folks that think the ZIM notes are gold backed, point to Zimbabwe as a country that has quite a bit of gold, diamonds, and other minerals to cover the exchange rate, that is getting advertised, for those precious 100 Trillion Dollar Notes that have been demonetised.

If that's the case, then why hasn't the Reserve Bank Of Zimbabwe done it?

Question For Zimland! (Dinarland Too!) Empty Rambler/ZIM

Post by Scotchie Tue Jul 11, 2017 8:30 pm

Yesw, Rambler, most believe what Yosef started and the other gurus followed that the zim is an historical bond.  I am not sure if that means gold backed, but in the scheme of things makes little difference.

The old zim is not a bond, it is not backed by anything, it has had 12 zeros deleted, and it has been decommissioned.

It would take a miracle to exchange zim for money, other than hopefully getting back what you paid for it.

I do not remember reading any story where someone has sold their zim back.  Plenty have sold the dinar back.  Is there really anyone, other than on EBay, that would buy your zim?  Any dealer?   If not, that should be a big hint.

You can't count what you think is in the ground to back a currency.  This even goes for oil.  The price of oil is falling.  In a couple of years Volve will produce no cars that utilize gasoline.  That is the future.  Oil is on its way out, imo.

Thanks, Rambler
