Hi Folks After talking to a fellow board member privately, today it was brought to my attention that many of you may be having doubts of this whole RV story.  During our conversation I related a story of a personal family member's experience with currency exchanging.  Now bare with me as I relate what sealed my own decision to look at this whole thing in a positive manner.

My sister, perhaps the most generally the most charitable person I have ever met in my life time.  She is and has been a devote Catholic all of her life.  The church she attends regularly recently built on to the church an addition to the church school.  It was a pretty big expansion but the church felt the need for it and counted on funds to be provided when the time came to pay for the expansion.  Many fund raisers were held but still in the end the church was left with a debt that had to be paid in the amount of $1,800,000.00.  Years prior to this happening my sister had found a website that was selling foreign currency.  For no other reason than curiosity she decided to buy some VN Dong IRQ Dinar and some Zim as well.  Well one day last year she thought it would be nice to give some of this currency as a gift to her siblings myself and three other sisters along with her two children as well.

Well my sisters and I chuckled to ourselves and took the currency and stashed it away for safe keeping.  None of us actually believing that it would ever amount to much.  Then as it turned out when she heard about her church needing funds she decided to give the church two of VN 500,000 Dong currencies to the church.  When she talked to the Church Priest she asked that her gift be kept anonymous.  The Priest agreed and several weeks later she was surprised to hear that there had been an anonymous gift received and the church was no longer in debt.   Several days later she approached the Priest and asked him if her gift may have helped with the debt.  It was then that he told her that the bank that held the note had accepted the two currencies that she had given to the church and in exchange it had paid the entire note in full.

This one incident, is what caused me to become more active on the Wing It Website.  My friend has asked me to post this story because he he believes that others need hard evidence that this is really going to happen.  My hope is that it has.

Just Tom

I wish we could believe this story but I am sure that it is just another false hope. The Dinar is finished at least until they get rid of Maliki----I wish all the very best but we have been sung too, to long.

This is most interesting.  This morning on a Iraq news site, a article about the dinar, from my interpretation, really ran together, it will be at least two (2) more years before anything is done about a RI or RV.  Do your research and keep your money away from the scammers, all of them.

Cheechee
Pardon me, but I have a hard time believing your bank story.  Is there anyone that would attend a church, personally pay off its entire debt, and not be personally thanked by the priest?  I find the fact that she had to ask if her donation paid the entire debt as unthinkable and enough for me to hit the road and find a new church home. Confidential donations still deserve a personal thank you and, where did the excess go?

pinkroses
Cheechee, your accusation statement deserves no reply from Justtom. No one needs to validate anything to you. Thepost was written in good faith. Honestly, I do not understand negative comments as yours when members post an encouraging story for us all.

Justtom, Thank you for sharing such a lovely encouraging bank story. May your dear friend be blessed for her caring giving heart, hugsss

JustTom
Actually, she was personally thanked by the Priest. She asked not to be identified to the other members of the church because she did not want to be bombarded by other members of the church seeking funds for other projects and since she is a widow living by herself saw the possibility of being attacked because some unscrupulous people might want to do her harm. She is 83 years old. As for the excess, I am sure the bank was excited and decided it was worth them holding the currency for a higher return from an investment point of view. But if you choose not to believe it then so be it. Try giving large amounts of money to charities in your own name when your currency is exchanged and see what kind of target you place on yourself and your family members. FYI most humanitarian gifts are given anonymously.

Cheechee
The story just changed if she was personally thanked by the priest for doing such a good deed.  That is wonderful. Keep in mind, in your original post, you stated "she asked the priest, after seeing the announcement in the bulletin, if her donation had anything to do with the pay-off".   No negativity intended.

JesusisLord
JustTom, my only question is this, why didn't she exchange? The Priest I'm sure has connections within the banking system. If I was the Priest I would have assisted my donors, because whatever goes around comes around.

Personally I will be praying it forward to many organizations anonymously, but will I need to get my tax deduction afterwards: $100.00 now is not a big thing for 2-500,000
Vietnamese dongs, but if what we are hearing from Yosef happens, then the 2-500,000.00 Vietnamese dong will be worth about $669,000,000.00 USD or TRN. Or 1 million x $669.00 as a sovereign rate or asset-backed arbitrage. I doubt that they received these rates, but it is NON OF OUR BUSINESS any way. (NDA)

I don't know anything, but I have gifted a lot to others, and prayerfully those individuals will be able to handle these high rates. I have never knew of a church that would NOT know what to do with any extra money.

Just saying,

Have a blessed day.

Respectfully,

JesusisLord

From what I'm reading JustTom did not say the bank allowed the church to exchange the currency, but that the bank took the notes AND IN exchange paid the churches debt off.

Great story!

Two chances that this story is true, slim and none, with none being far more likely.
