CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE Empty CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

Post by Ponee Sat Sep 05, 2015 1:24 pm

I was having a discussion with some friends the other day, and we started talking about protestors and their causes.

I was wondering what some of you think about CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE.

Where do we draw the line? When is it justifiable for protesters and activists to break the law for the sake of their cause? What are your thoughts?

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE Empty Re: CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

If they cause hurt or harm to the person or property of innocents, no. Peaceful disobedience in the style of Dr. King and others like him, no problem.

Now if you are talking about resisting an unjust government, and all other avenues have been exhausted, then direct action against the government and it's representatives may be considered. Take our founders as an example. It was only multiple attempts to obtain redress of the issues, and much debate and soul searching that they brought direct action against the Crown and it's representatives. Even then, it was only after extreme provocation.
