Parliamentary Legal: general amnesty law would not include criminals or covered by "terrorism" law

(Voice of Iraq) - Baghdad Legal Committee in the House of Representatives confirmed on Wednesday that the amnesty law would not include criminals and covered by the anti-terrorism law, and whilst recognizing the existence of objections to some of its paragraphs, revealed the formation of a sub-committee to study the draft law. The deputy chairman of the Committee Mohsen Saadoun told a news conference at the parliament building that "the draft law needs to be a thorough study and there will be a panel discussion of the Committee to be held on 12 August next, in the presence of all the relevant parties of the government and representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Labour and Social Affairs and Human Rights and the Bar Association and the Supreme Judicial Council and the United Nations. "

He added Sadoun that "the law does not include criminals nor its provisions apply to covered by anti-terrorism No. 13 of 2005 the law," referring to "the existence of objections to some private paragraphs relating to the eligibility of any person alleging torture claim of the judiciary to re trial. " The vice president of the Legal Committee of the Parliamentary out that "the law does not include convicted felons major crimes, including the crime of Spyker and Khan Bani Saad, and other areas," noting that "the parliament form a small committee to study the draft of the amnesty law."

The Iraqi Council of Representatives ended in ( July 5, 2015) the first reading of the draft general amnesty law, while the law will be presented for the second reading soon.
